Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 15, 2026
1. Who we are
English Trainer ("we", "us", "our") is a web application for practicing English grammar. You can reach us at our contact page.
2. Data we collect
Local storage
We store your preferences (theme, font size, exercise settings) and the IDs of exercises you have already completed directly in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with the app. Google Analytics may collect your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited. This data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with their Privacy Policy. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We plan to use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
Text-to-speech audio
When you request audio playback for an exercise, the sentence text is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API. No personal data is included in these requests. Generated audio files are cached on our server.
3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
We process data on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interest — analytics to improve the service.
- Consent — personalised advertising (you may withdraw consent at any time via your browser's cookie settings or Google Ads Settings).
4. Cookies
We use cookies for analytics and advertising purposes. See the table below for a summary:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Usage analytics | 2 years |
| __gads, __gpi | Google AdSense | Advertising | 13 months |
You can disable or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with the third-party service providers listed above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Cloud) to the extent necessary to operate the service.
6. Your rights (EEA / UK residents)
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because most data is stored only in your own browser (localStorage), you can exercise many of these rights directly by clearing your browser data. For other requests, contact us.
7. Data retention
localStorage data is retained until you clear your browser storage. Analytics data is retained for 2 months as per the default Google Analytics configuration.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
